GREENSBORO Mr. James Robert "Jim" Bodkin passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, December 4, at Beacon Place Hospice of Greensboro. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2016 at Bethel Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Jim had a passion for life and love of family. He was born on January 1, 1947 in Gary, Indiana. He proudly served our country in Turkey as well as California and Texas in the U.S. Air Force. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa and gained a business administration and accounting degree from Robert Morris University. He retired after 23 years from Kimberly Clark as a global logistics analyst. Jim had so many passions and talents for life, learning, music and creativity, with his strongest focus being photography. Throughout Jim's life, and all of his adventures he was most passionate about God and family. He studied the Bible and was a member of many Presbyterian churches. He was an elder and Sunday School teacher. His favorite book of the Bible was James. He recently exclaimed his final understanding of 1st Corinthians, and how Faith, Hope and Love, but especially Love are the most important policies in life. This understanding of Love is how he developed his personal relationships with his closest friends and family. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, James Alfred and Julia Jane (Goldey) Bodkin. He is lovingly survived by his best friend and wife, Dorothy Gannon Bodkin, daughter Melody Linda (Bodkin) Northcutt, son James Elijah "BJ" Bodkin (wife Jennie Douglas), grandson James "Noah," stepdaughter Laura Jarrett, grandchildren Lindsey, Justin (Lolita), Kenneth, and Scarlett, stepson Kendall Gannon (wife Anita), grandson Matthew, sisters Julie (Ron) Rathi, and Joyce D'Arconte, and many more extended family members. The family will receive friends from 11:30 till 1 p.m. Friday prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Presbyterian Church, 300 Knox Rd.
