I’ve been wondering who was the person who took this photo. Because everyone in it has an annoyed look on their face like the sun is in their eyes.
I’ll be sure to ask Kenny Blake if he remembers.
And sad that we’re saying Goodbye to our dear friend George Heid Sr. Condolences to his family and friends, may he rest with god.

Have you ever met a beautiful soul, so loving, talented, had a passion for music and helped others with the same passion, loved his family and his roots, faith filled, kind, funny, passionate about doing for others while deeply getting to know them?
I did! He is my cousin George Heid Sr. who passed away this morning. Here he is with his beautiful Mom, my Aunt Maggie.
RIP dear cousin. Thank you for ALL you were to our family. And ALL YOU DID FOR OTHERS!π

I am saddened to learn of the passing of George Heid Sr., a truly beautiful soul. His brother Bill Heid and I made some good recordings with him. George's son, George Heid III is also a fine drummer and great human like his dad, and will carry on the family tradition. But we HATE losing his dad. Such a lovely man.
One highlight in my life was playing drums behind Bill & George on piano, playing boogie woogie, reprising their 45 rpm “All Out Vota” that is now a collectors item! We did this in Pittsburg one year on a concert when Bill & I were backing up Joe Weaver & Big Jay McNeely. Here is the original 45 of the Heid Brothers recorded at their dads studio: https://youtu.be/xIWCtqaoZyI

That was a great concert by the way with Johnnie Bassett, Keith Kaminski & Robert Conner.
Rest easy George Heid Sr. -Soulful soul-sending love and prayers of comfort to the Heid family
The Pittsburgh musical community lost it’s king pin lion today. Rest in peace and power, George Heid Sr. and thank you for everything…
Mary Rodgers…we lost our buddy, “Georgie” George Heid Sr. today. The Pgh music world has lost a great musician, friend and kind soul. I’m so glad that he called me several months ago to catch up. We laughed for over an hour about all the fun memories we shared in our “20’s”. He filled our hearts and has now taken a part of them with him. We were so blessed to have had Georgie in our lives. Godspeed…
