Hi everyone!!!
After graduating from Mt. Lebanon High School my life took me from Pa. to Ohio where I began an incredible journey. I established my "home" in Canton, Ohio, and have remained grounded and rooted here. It's quite close to where I landed in 1965. I enjoyed an awesome 31 years teaching in the school district in Ohio where I actually student taught. I began with 4th graders after graduating from Mt. Union College in Alliance, Ohio, in 1969. Through graduate work at The Univ. of Akron (in Art) I earned a second degree in Visual Arts and spent the remaining 18 years of my career teaching Middle School Art coupled with accelerated American History. An unusual combination it was but a perfect fit for me. Those 31 years were "a great ride" and I loved every minute. My passion for the arts continues to consume my daily living in so many arenas. Currently I continue to be a free-lance watercolorist & designer beginning this "second career" shortly after my college graduation. Those of you ever involved in the arts understand having a zillion hobbies. My projects and interests seem unending and I feel grateful and incredibly blessed.
I retired from the classroom in 2000 with great memories and many "Kodak Moments" for my scrapbook. I do feel, though, my beginnings at Mt. Lebanon High School prepared me with an incredible learning experience which helped catapult me into the real world with confidence. Nobody "does it better" than Mt. Lebo......
I continue to celebrate life with my husband and love of my life, Jim, who also pursued a career in education. He is currently a district school administrator and also a graduate of Mt. Union College. We do lots of "playing" as Jim & I love to travel. From tracing our roots in Europe to golfing at our home in Florida, we continue to have a blast and a zest for living.
Our daughter, Meredith, also joined the classroom- teacher-ranking becoming a 5th grade teacher upon her graduation from Mt. Union College. The legacies at Mt. Union began with the graduation of my father eons ago in 1939. Perhaps one of our grandsons will keep the tradition going. Our oldest grandson is in 6th grade and is passionate about history. Time will tell, I guess....And so it goes.
I'm looking forward to our class reunion. Recognizing names, reuniting with old friends and reminiscing about past times will be priceless. Hopefully more friends from the class of '65 will consider sharing their time, life & memories with us in August. What could be better????? In 2017 my husband & I moved permanently to the Tampa Bay Gulf area of Florida to enjoy the sunshine nearly everyday.
